About the Palm Network

Palm NFT Studio is one of the contributors to the Palm network. The Palm network is an Ethereum-compatible sidechain, built to serve as the foundation of a new scalable and sustainable ecosystem for NFTs. It is designed by, and for, Ethereum developers and features low gas costs and fast transaction finality. The Palm network uses the IBFT-2 consensus mechanism, a rotating Proof of Authority consensus method, in lieu of Proof of Work. This substantially reduces the computing power required and allows the Palm network to be 99% more energy-efficient than Proof of Work systems. To date, more than 3.5 million NFTs have been minted on the Palm network. There are currently 1.1 million wallet addresses, over 4 million NFTs, and more than 5 million transactions.

About the role

Our Backend Engineers are self-starters, and quick learners, with an interest in Ethereum and blockchain technologies. They are people who communicate effectively, consistently ship high quality, well-tested code and value code simplicity, performance, and the details. Your attitude will determine our altitude and building new ideas, based on complex technologies and industries, will be challenging. The team is key for success and your ideas, positivity and group focus, will make the difference. We are interested in your knowledge but your capacity is more important for us. There are various technologies available and the way you tackle and use them, will make the difference. We are looking for the right balance between attitude and aptitude.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement scalable and reliable backend systems that support our applications
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define and implement new features
• Develop and maintain database systems, including data modeling, data access, and performance optimization
• Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code that adheres to best practices and standards
• Develop and maintain automated tests for the backend systems
• Debug and resolve production issues in a timely manner
• Participate in code and design reviews to ensure the quality of the codebase
• Stay up-to-date with new technologies and trends in backend engineering

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science or related field
• 5+ years of experience in backend engineering, with a focus on building and maintaining scalable systems. We are currently using Java / Groovy (JVM based Languages). Other languages will be a plus
• You are or willing to be a language polyglot, due to the importance of getting the best of different technological stacks to create the best solutions
• You think that understanding the business domain, language and opportunities are key to defining the best solutions
• Strong research and learning capabilities. The blockchain space is cutting edge and evolving very fast; staying on the trends is key to help us to make the right decisions
• Strong proficiency in a programming language such as Java, Python, or Ruby
• Proven experience on complex architecture design and development, and system integration
• Relational and Non relational database development experience
• Spring framework experience (Boot, data, web,...)
• Agile development experience with Lean, Scrum, XP etc.
• Experience with database systems such as MySQL, PostgreSQL, or MongoDB
• Experience with cloud computing platforms, such as AWS or Google Cloud
• Knowledge of RESTful APIs and experience with microservices development
• Experience with automation and continuous integration/delivery (CI/CD) pipelines
• Strong debugging and problem-solving skills
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment
