CoinDesk, the global leader in crypto, Web3 and blockchain news, seeks a versatile social multimedia producer and editor to be embedded in multimedia, marketing and social operations to produce written and multimedia content for social platforms as the company seeks to reach and engage deeply with new audiences.
Every member of the social media team has their own superpower. This editor is a multimedia whiz with a well-rounded toolkit of video, design, data charting and live coverage skills who can autonomously produce and edit video and GIFs and design images, from repurposing original content for social formats to creating branded assets to promote various campaigns. They have a knack for what works on social media, from snappy vertical videos on YouTube Shorts to high-conversion promotional campaigns.
The editor works closely with teams across the editorial, multimedia, events and marketing departments to build and engage diverse audiences. Beyond just having working knowledge of the fundamentals of tech, finance or cryptocurrency (preferably all), the right candidate should have proven experience breaking down technical concepts, making them accessible and enjoyable to consume, and using them to generate conversation, engagement and organic community expansion. This editor will also have non-multimedia responsibilities including written social media content and campaign analytics reporting and takeaways.
The editor must have a creative approach to social media strategy. They should write and edit written and video content quickly, cleanly and succinctly, and they must be a master of shaping content to match the voice of different social networks. They also need to be a strong collaborator, working in real-time with the editorial and marketing teams to take hold of relevant social conversations, all the while keeping strong journalistic ethics and standards in mind.
The editor must also have the versatility to manage promotional activities across other products in sync with the marketing arm of CoinDesk, as well as to think synergistically about how to collaborate with influencers and other brands to build awareness of campaigns. They are responsible for writing and producing their own content to meet audience KPIs of engagement, views and followers to the brand’s accounts with minimal supervision.
The editor plays an integral role in broader audience strategy and must be comfortable with analytics, have a good sense of how to measure success (both broadly and on a campaign basis), and be comfortable with setting up and analyzing data on campaign performance as well as with experimentation. They should have experience with identifying opportunities within social media trends to inform editorial strategy.
